Erikousa Sailing Guide: Anchorages, Harbours and Tips

Updated: October 2026

Overview

Erikousa is a small and quiet destination in the northern Ionian Sea, offering a simple but reliable combination of anchorages and harbour facilities. Located north of Corfu as part of the Diapontia Islands, it marks one of the outer points of the Ionian sailing area.

The island is lightly developed, with one main port that serves as its primary hub, along with a small number of nearby anchorages. Its sailing interest lies in its simplicity, shelter, and peaceful atmosphere, making it a suitable stop away from the more crowded Ionian routes.

Protection is generally good in settled conditions, particularly from the prevailing NW winds, although options remain limited due to the island’s small size and straightforward coastline.

For sailors, Erikousa is best used as a quiet overnight stop or waypoint, rather than a destination with multiple anchoring choices. In this guide, you will find all available anchorages and harbour options in Erikousa, along with practical information on protection, holding, and berthing.

In the port of Erikousa you will find taverns, cafés, and a small minimarket within walking distance. All of this is accompanied by a beautiful sandy beach with crystal-clear water. You can choose whether to anchor in the roadstead or dock your boat in the harbour.

Anchoring

The bay outside the port has a sandy bottom with good holding at 5–8 metres. It is generally sheltered from the prevailing NW wind. Anchoring inside the yellow-buoyed swimming area is prohibited. Ensure you leave a clear approach and sufficient space off the quay for the ferry to maneuver and dock.
